I believe that Pocahontas II totally ruins the magical atmosphere that sorrounds the first movie. Even though in the real story Pocahontas stays with the other dude, Disney was never famous on following the original thing literally ;)

I think that she simply couldn't have trade John Simith after all they've been through on the first movie, after all they taught each other, after all the beautiful love they shared!

Sure, on the second movie Smith looks and acts a bit too weird and the other guy is the "prince" but still, they could totaly have made the movie with Smith, even if he only appeared at the end or something.

I could never imagine a Disney princess trading her prince charming! That is just against every law of Fairy Tales! And the way it ends says that Pocahontas and the other guy will stay together forever, ruining the beautiful suspense at the end of the first movie.

Well, I was very very desapointed when I saw the sequel for I was sure that she would finally meet Smith and they would live "Happily Ever After". Didn't happen...

Oh, well, maybe on a possible Pocahontas III Disney fixes it! Sequels are always dangerous things...

That's all, folks! Annie, thanks for the space :)

When I first found out that a sequel to first Pocahontas movie was comming out, I was like wow! I was excited at first, because I thought the sequel would be like the first one. And when I finally saw the sequel, I got a real big disapointment. I thought how could Disney do that Pocahontas and John Smith's characters'. It was like that all both of them went through togther was all for nothing. Its' just like the strong love and relationship that Pocahontas and John Smith had for one another, did'nt mean anything. They seemed to be more like friends, then when actually they were more than that. I know thay had to make the sequel to make more like history to make the critcs happy but come on! Why just not go along with what they did in the first movie, and make a story more about love. After all tha't what the first movie was all about, why change the whole story? And there was also another thing, the animation seemed alot worse. The colors where not as breathtaking as it was in the first movie. To me it seemed as they just threw it all togther and made it look fake. But those were the only problems with the sequel that I think were bad. I think Disney should make a third movie, just to correct the errors in the sequel.

I completely agree with what you said in your essay about the Pocahontas sequel. While I love Disney (ok, too much maybe) they do make serious mistakes and some of those mistakes revolve around sequels where none should have appeared.

'Journey to a New World' may have been more historically accurate, but how did John Smith go from a caring and compassionate person to an arrogant so-and-so who starts discussing what life he's going to lead adding, "with you by my side of course" as if she had no choice in the matter? If Disney was trying to be historically accurate I would also like to know why John Rolfe left with Pocahontas to Virginia, when history states that she came to live (and eventually die) in England?

Something else...why is it that King James only paid attention to Ratcliffe and later John Smith? Surely the sailors would have told their story to SOMEONE?

Attempts to revive or continue a classic through a sequal in Disney terms is usually a mistake. Only VERY rarely does it actually work. In this case, it did not.

Pocahontas is my ALL TIME favorite movie in the whole world, The first time i saw it was when i was 5 years old now i'm 16 and i still cry when i see it...I thought the second one would be breath taking but i was wrong...When i saw the movie the first thing that popped into my head was....WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?!? disney just butchered the whole love between pocahontas and jonh smith. I mean come on now did pocahontas and this john rolfe guy even share a special moment?!?! UH I DON'T THINK SO!?!? in the first one John smith was about to die for pocahontas but in the second one they made him an ignorant selfish guy who says the LAMEST puns!! I guess when he fell off the bridge all that water must of really went to his head!!! I was so dissappointed I wanted to cry!! Then i was thinking they should make a third one...make pocahontas realize she loves jonh smith and they get together and take it from there. well i'm glad i got that off my chest!
