Ariel's mother makes her long-anticipated (well, among TLM fans) debut, and of course, she has to sing. It makes sense that Ariel got her singing chops from her mother, since Triton isn't known for his musical prowess, if he has any.

In the opening scenes of The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning, the Queen sings this very brief "Athena's Song" to her seven young daughters.
