The Daughters of Triton

movie version . demo version . broadway demo version . broadway version

This is a part of the opening song of the concert that all seven of King Triton's daughters were supposed to perform. Of course, one particular red-headed princess failed to attend, causing the performance to grind to a halt. I always wonder how the song would have continued had she been there. Many thanks to Alex for the lyricfs correction.

Daughter of Triton: Demo Version

A synth demo version of this song was featured in the Legacy Collection album, performed by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. It has an extra early section, which was understandably cut to tighten the scene up.

The Broadway version of The Daughters Triton is slower than the movie version, and they've snuck in a talkie line, along with an optimistic pause as the characters hope against hope that Ariel will arrive at the last second.
