H₂O: Mermaid Adventures

This show is an animated adaptation of TV series H2O: Just Add Water, depicting an alternate take of teenage best friends Cleo, Emma and Rikki, who gain the ability to become mermaids along with other water-centric powers after they fall into the moon pool of Mako Island during a full moon. A number of the original show's season one characters have been ported over, including Lewis, Zane, Miriam, Byron, Elliot and Kim, though everyone has been altered in various ways for this new setting of Dolphin City, US. (Alas, no Charlotte, Bella or Will.)

It's a cute and brightly-coloured show for a younger audience, so the problems the trio face are modified (eg. the full moon boosts their powers but doesn't mess with their minds) and the setting has become a bit more fantastical (eg. the girls can talk underwater to animal friends like Bernie the hermit crab and Sue the manta ray who are regular characters in the show). A few episodes adapt some of the original TV show's plots like Zane's father wanting to develop Mako Island and Kim reading Cleo's diary about how she's a mermaid, but most are new stories, with a decent chunk of them understandably having environmentalist themes, and introducing new magical elements in the ocean that affect the trio.

The show has two seasons, each with thirteen episodes.
