This simple romantic comedy has at its center Daphne (Jessica Morris), a princess of ancient Athens who was cursed into becoming an immortal mermaid as punishment for coldly rejecting the love of Pericles, a warrior-philosopher. The only way to break the curse is to find a reincarnation of Pericles and make it up to him. Some three millennia later, Daphne finally finds a reincarnation in the form of Travis Hunter, a widowed small town bar owner who is fending off multiple debts that have come a-calling despite it being the Christmas season.
You know how the story's going to go, and it's a fish-out-of-water scenario on top of that as Daphne arrives on the scene and finds a way to help Travis and his motley group of friends protect their beloved bar. But that act, though kind, might not be the one she needed to do to break the curse? (It's not, but you can tell what she really needed to do.)
The mermaid content is brief, but it is pretty funny that Daphne is open about being an ancient mermaid from the get-go and it never becomes a problem. The tail does look nice, and there's a brief underwater scene in a swimming pool.
