Wednesday Addams of the Addams Family gets her own show that is mainly set in Nevermore Academy, a school for outcasts. Wednesday's initial plan is to get out of Nevermore Academy as quickly as possible, but she gets drawn into investigating a mystery of a maybe-beast in the woods that's been killing people. Over time Wednesday grows attached to Nevermore, learns about its checkered history with the town of Jericho, and gains friends along the way.
The show's definition of outcasts are mainly supernatural creatures, or people with supernatural abilities. One of the main cliques of the school is the "Scales", i.e. sirens, who are mainly seen in their human shape, and wear a special pendant to control their siren voice. The main siren and the school's most popular girl is Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday), who naturally clashes with Wednesday but has her own demons to contend with. For Bianca, at least, the siren ability to control people with their voice means that she cannot be sure if people genuinely care about her, and that siren ability can be used as a weapon by unscrupulus people. Bianca's hand briefly gains scales when she plays with water, in the first scene we see her.
The only siren we see transform in season one is Bianca's friend Kent (Oliver Watson), who tries to help his team The Golden Bugs win the school's Poe Cup race by sabotaging the other teams from under the water. In his other form, Kent has a long tail and what seems to be webbed hands with claws.
By season two Wednesday and Bianca are amiable friends, though they're mostly in separate storylines, and none of the other sirens have significant roles, though Kent is still around. In Bianca's storyline she's protecting her mother, who's a runaway survivor of a cult that had been using her for her gifts, and Bianca's own siren gift is used multiple times both for own protection and when she's blackmailed by another unscrupulous character.
There's a flashback scene towards the end of the season where Bianca's mother, Gabrielle, is seen swimming in full tailed form in a tank of a bar.
