Ariel has just saved Eric from drowning, and she finds herself falling hard. So she reprises
her theme song to reveal a new determination to somehow join Eric's world. This is one of the
movie's many powerful moments, and a point of no return for the little mermaid.
Thanks to Joahn and Julie for the lyric corrections.
What would I give to live where you are?
What would I pay to stay here beside you?
What would I do to see you smiling at me?
Where would we walk, where would we run
If we could stay all day in the sun?
Just you and me
And I could be
Part of your world
I don't know when
I don't know how
But I know something's starting right now
Watch and you'll see
Someday I'll be
Part of your world

The early draft for this song was significantly different in tone from the final version
ended up being. This draft was included in the album "The Music Behind the Magic"
with Alan Menken providing the vocals. The lyrics of this versions are more melancholy,
featuring an Ariel who is more accepting of what fate has dealt to her. Thanks to Mariah
for submitting this.
What would I give to live where you are?
What would I pay to stay here beside you?
What would I do to see you smiling at me?
Now there's a dream
Now there's a goal
Now there's a need I'll never control
I won't get free till I can be
Part of your world
What would I give if I could live out of these waters?
What would I pay to spend a day holding your hand?
I'd give my life
I'd sell my soul
'Cause I can feel I'll never be whole
But I can see
I'll never be
Part of your world

Sierra Boggess of the original Broadway cast has a slightly different take of this song,
starting out slower and then building it up with her energy, plus the last two lines are
delivered differently, I'm guessing to make it easier to belt and sound more triumphant.
Ariel: Was I too late?
Scuttle: It's hard to say. Oh, I can't make out a heartbeat.
Ariel: No, look, he's breathing. Oh Scuttle, just look at him. He's so beautiful.

Auli'i takes on the reprise for the ABC "The Little Mermaid Live!" show, which follows the
Broadway version with the key change for the last two lines. For the live staging, there's some nifty
use of doubles in the background as Ariel "imagines" what it would be like for her to be part of Eric's
world.

Part of Your World (reprise): live-action adaptation
Halle Bailey and her lovely vocals take on the reprise follows the same key change as introduced by the Broadway
version, and boy does she belt at the end there.
