Original Soundtrack
The Pocahontas soundtrack features songs by the talented Alan Menken
and Stephen Schwartz, created to support the story and add on to the journey of
the characters. This is one of those albums I can listen back to front, songs
and instrumentals together, and never get tired of.
The soundtrack was re-released as a special 2-CD version for the Walt Disney Legacy Collection in 2015. This
version has a different track listing from the original, where various tracks are extended and/or combined, plus
there's the addition of previously unreleased tracks both from the film as well from demo recordings.
The Disney Princess franchise features Pocahontas in its princess line-up. Though she doesn't appear as much on
merchandise as the other more glitzy princesses, Judy Kuhn came back to reprise her performance as Pocahontas in various
original songs for the franchise. The ones I'm aware of are:
If You Can Dream from Disney Princess: Ultimate Song Collection (2004)
Silver and Gold from Disney Princesss Christmas Album (2005)
The 2005 recording of the musical revue Disney's On the Record features a small cast (Kaitlin Hopkins, Brian
Sutherland, Ashley Brown and Andrew Samonsky) singing an extensive list of Disney songs, some of which are
performed close to their original versions, while other are remixed or combined in medleys.
A few songs from Pocahontas (though truncated) are included as well.
In 2015 a bunch of popular artists provided their vocals for We Love Disney, a cover album of Disney classics in
the style of Disney Mania but a tad more grown-up. Tori Kelly recorded a laidback version of "Colours of the Wind"
for this
album.
